Support for HappyLink HappyLAN and HappyBELL SOFTWARE
On this page, you’ll find support resources for HappyLink, HappyLAN and HappyBell connection software. Below is a brief explanation of what each software program does:
HappyLink software – controls a live USB cable connection between a PC and 1 or more HappyJapan embroidery machines to allow transfer of designs and design settings from PC to the embroidery machine.
HappyLAN software – controls a live LAN (network) connection between a PC and up to 254 HappyJapan embroidery machines to allow transfer of designs and design settings from PC to the embroidery machine.
HappyBell software – Android-compatible smartphone app that provides live monitoring of 1 or more HappyJapan embroidery machines while they are operating.
Machine Busy message when trying to send a design – USB connection has been lost. First make sure the machine is on, connected and in sewing/Drive mode. If it is and you still get "Machine Busy", check the PC's Device Manager for indications of what has happened. If you are connecting to a 64-bit version of Windows (current and recent versions of Windows), and if the machine is showing in the Device Manager and shows a COM port number assigned to the machine, go to the HappyLink program, click File, then Options, and make sure that USB-COM is selected as the connection type, and select the COM port number assigned by the Device Manager. If the machine is not showing in the Device Manager at all, you may need to re-load the correct drivers.
Failed to send a setting – The PC has been able to send over the design, but not any settings you may have modified for it, such as color changes, rotation/scale/pull compensation settings, etc that can be done in HappyLink. This may be because either (a) HappyLink was not run in Administrator mode, or (b) the design is stored on a remote drive with limited access or an unwritable drive link a CD-ROM. (explanation of the latter: To create sendable settings, HappyLink needs to create a separate file in the directory where the active design is stored, which contains these settings and ends with an .hp1 extension. Unwritable or write-protected drives will prevent this file from being created, triggering the error message.)
Troubleshooting HappyLAN Software
Machine not showing up in HappyLAN window, even after performing all the steps – Disconnect the PC from the Internet or other networked devices, then temporarily turn off all anti-virus and/or security software. This includes Windows Firewall. If you are able to establish a connection after performing this step, re-enable all appropriate security/anti-virus software, and with each software, allow an exception for the HappyLAN program
